Lion Rock Tunnel Road will be re-opened

The Transport Department (TD) announced tonight (August 23) that the slow lane of Lion Rock Tunnel Road that has been closed due to mud flow from the slope above near Kak Tin Village will be re-opened for traffic at 6 a.m. tomorrow (August 24).

All bus routes will resume normal.

Geotechnical Engineering Office (GEO), Highways Department and Water Supplies Department have carried out inspections, including using a helicopter to inspect the scene, and identified a natural slope failure above the road of approximately 50 metres uphill.  GEO has provided expert geotechnical advice on the necessary emergency slope works with a view to reopening the Kowloon bound slow lane to traffic by early morning tomorrow.

Members of the public can also visit TD's website at www.td.gov.hk and look up “Special Traffic News” for up-to-date information, call 2804 2600 or 1823 for enquiry.
