Suspension of services of Transport Department

The Transport Department announces that as tropical cyclone signal No. 8 has been issued, the public services provided by the department's Licensing Offices, Cross Boundary Unit and Vehicle Examination Centres Driving Examination Centres have been suspended.

Public having scheduled for vehicle examination should make reschedule appointments with the Vehicle Examination Centers as soon as the centers re-open. Candidates having scheduled for driving test today will be individually informed of the alternative arrangements.

A spokesman for the Transport Department said: "It is an offence to charge taxi fares exceeding the scale of taxi fares stipulated in the Regulation. The Transport Department reminds taxi drivers that excessive fares during typhoons are not allowed."

Members of the public are requested to listen to radio announcements for updated information.
