Temporary traffic arrangements for Mong Kok on Sunday

     Special traffic arrangements will be implemented in Mong Kok on Sunday (October 23) from 4pm to midnight because of the Sunday Community Event. The Transport Department says the temporary measures are:

- Road closure:
Portland Street between Shantung Street and Argyle Street will be closed to all vehicular traffic.

- Banning of right-hand turns:
All vehicles on Shantung Street (westbound) will be banned from turning right into Portland Street.

- Traffic diversion:
Affected vehicles on Shantung Street (westbound) heading for Portland Street (northbound) will be diverted via Reclamation Street. Affected vehicles on Portland Street will be diverted via Cheung Sha Street, Nathan Road and Argyle Street.

- Taxi-stand relocation:
The taxi-stand outside 242-244 Portland Street (Far East Bank Building) will be relocated to Shanghai Street outside Langham Place.

- Taxi drop-off lay-by:
The taxi drop-off lay-by outside 240 Portland Street (Far East Bank Building) will be suspended.

- Prohibited zones for vehicles exceeding 11 metres in length:
The following road sections in Mong Kok will be designated prohibited zones for vehicles exceeding 11 metres in length, apart from those with permits issued by the Commissioner for Transport:
* the section of Portland Street from its junction with Dundas Street to its junction with Shantung Street; and
* the section of Soy Street from its junction with Shanghai Street to its junction with Portland Street.
