Special traffic and transport arrangements at Prince Edward Road East (Main Road) Eastbound in Kowloon City (with maps)

     A spokesman for the Transport Department today (January 9) reminded people that to facilitate the footbridge demolition works, the section of Prince Edward Road East (Main Road) eastbound from Kowloon City Interchange to Choi Hung Road would be temporarily closed from 1.30am to 5.30am  from January 12 to 26. During the road closure, the following temporary traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented:

Traffic Diversion

* Motorists on Boundary Street eastbound and Argyle Street eastbound heading for San Po Kong may travel via Kowloon City Interchange, Ma Tau Chung Road westbound, Heng Wan Road, Sung Wong Toi Road eastbound, Sung Wong Toi Road U-turn, Sung Wong Toi Road westbound, Ma Tau Chung Road elevated road eastbound, Prince Edward Road East (Link Road) eastbound and Choi Hung Road northbound; or other alternative routeings.
* Motorists on Boundary Street eastbound and Argyle Street eastbound heading for Kwun Tong may travel via Kowloon City Interchange, Ma Tau Chung Road westbound, Heng Wan Road, Sung Wong Toi Road eastbound, Sung Wong Toi Road U-turn, Sung Wong Toi Road westbound, Ma Tau Chung Road elevated road eastbound, Prince Edward Road East (Link Road) eastbound and Prince Edward Road East eastbound; or other alternative routeings.
* Motorists on South Wall Road southbound heading for San Po Kong may travel via Lung Kong Road northbound, Nga Tsin Wai Road westbound, Lion Rock Road southbound, Boundary Street eastbound, Kowloon City Interchange, Ma Tau Chung Road westbound, Heng Wan Road, Sung Wong Toi Road eastbound, Sung Wong Toi Road U-turn, Sung Wong Toi Road westbound, Ma Tau Chung Road elevated road eastbound, Prince Edward Road East (Link Road) eastbound and Choi Hung Road northbound; or other alternative routeings.
* Motorists on South Wall Road southbound heading for Kwun Tong may travel via Lung Kong Road northbound, Nga Tsin Wai Road westbound, Lion Rock Road southbound, Boundary Street eastbound, Kowloon City Interchange, Ma Tau Chung Road westbound, Heng Wan Road, Sung Wong Toi Road eastbound, Sung Wong Toi Road U-turn, Sung Wong Toi Road westbound, Ma Tau Chung Road elevated road eastbound, Prince Edward Road East (Link Road) eastbound and Prince Edward Road East eastbound; or other alternative routeings.
* Motorists on Boundary Street eastbound heading for Petrol Filling Stations at Prince Edward Road East may travel via Junction Road northbound, Carpenter Road eastbound, Lok Sin Road eastbound; the traffic flow direction of Choi Hung Road northbound between Lok Sin Road and Prince Edward Road East will be reversed temporarily to the south; and drivers are advised to follow the temporary traffic arrangements implemented on Prince Edward Road East between Choi Hung Road and Petrol Filling Stations for driving in and out of the Petrol Filling Stations.
* Motorists on Argyle Street eastbound heading for Petrol Filling Stations at Prince Edward Road East may travel via Kowloon City Interchange, Prince Edward Road West westbound, Junction Road northbound, Carpenter Road eastbound, Lok Sin Road eastbound; the traffic flow direction of Choi Hung Road northbound between Lok Sin Road and Prince Edward Road East will be reversed temporarily to the south; and drivers are advised to follow the temporary traffic arrangements implemented on Prince Edward Road East between Choi Hung Road and Petrol Filling Stations for driving in and out of the Petrol Filling Stations.
* Motorists on South Wall Road southbound heading for Petrol Filling Stations at Prince Edward Road East may travel via Lung Kong Road northbound, Carpenter Road eastbound, Lok Sin Road eastbound; the traffic flow direction of Choi Hung Road northbound between Lok Sin Road and Prince Edward Road East will be reversed temporarily to the south; and drivers are advised to follow the temporary traffic arrangements implemented on Prince Edward Road East between Choi Hung Road and Petrol Filling Stations for driving in and out of the Petrol Filling Stations.

Bus Route Diversion

* KMB route no. N121 (Ngau Tau Kok bound) and CTB route no. N23 (Tsz Wan Shan (North) bound) will be diverted to operate via Ma Tau Chung Road elevated road eastbound, Prince Edward Road East (Link Road) eastbound and Choi Hung Road northbound before resuming their normal routeings.
* KMB route no. N216 (Yau Tong bound) will be diverted to operate via Kowloon City Interchange, Ma Tau Chung Road westbound, Heng Wan Road, Sung Wong Toi Road eastbound, Sung Wong Toi Road U-turn, Sung Wong Toi Road westbound, Ma Tau Chung Road elevated road eastbound, Prince Edward Road East (Link Road) eastbound and Choi Hung Road northbound before resuming their normal routeings.
* KMB route no. N293 (Sheung Tak bound) and NWFB route no. N796 (Tseung Kwan O MTR Station bound) will be diverted to operate via Kowloon City Interchange, Ma Tau Chung Road westbound, Heng Wan Road, Sung Wong Toi Road eastbound, Sung Wong Toi Road U-turn, Sung Wong Toi Road westbound, Ma Tau Chung Road elevated road eastbound, Prince Edward Road East (Link Road) eastbound and Prince Edward Road East eastbound before resuming their normal routeings.

Green Minibus Route Diversion

* GMB route no. 61 (Siu Sai Wan (Island Resort) bound) will be diverted to operate via Kowloon City Interchange, Ma Tau Chung Road westbound, Heng Wan Road, Sung Wong Toi Road eastbound, Sung Wong Toi Road U-turn, Sung Wong Toi Road westbound, Ma Tau Chung Road elevated road eastbound, Prince Edward Road East (Link Road) eastbound and Prince Edward Road East eastbound before resuming their normal routeings.

     Appropriate temporary traffic signs will be erected to guide the motorists.  Notice will be displayed by the public transport operators at the bus stops and inside vehicles to advise passengers of the above temporary arrangements

     "Some bus and minibus stops will be suspended. Passengers are advised to pay attention to the arrangement. Details of the notice could be found at 'Traffic Notice Board' of the Transport Department www.td.gov.hk," the spokesman added.
