Special traffic and transport arrangements for 9th World Firefighters Games 2006 (with photo)

     The Transport Department today (February 16) reminded the public that special traffic and transport arrangements would be implemented in Wan Chai North and Admiralty North during the 9th World Firefighters Games 2006.

     The special arrangements will apply from 6am to 6pm on Saturday (February 18) in phases:

1. Road closure and traffic diversion at Expo Drive East, Expo Drive, Convention Avenue, Lung King Street, Fenwick Pier Street, Performing Arts Avenue, Lung Wui Street, Tim Mei Avenue and Tim Wa Avenue.

2. Regarding public transport services, NWFB route no. 46X, which operates along the closed roads will be diverted. The bus terminus at Expo Drive East will be suspended and bus routes 25A, 25C and 961 will terminate at Wan Chai Ferry Pier Bus Terminus. Bus companies will put up notices to inform passengers of the temporary arrangements.

3. Taxi stands and on-street parking spaces affected by road closures will be suspended.

4. Vehicles leaving Citic Tower carpark will also be diverted.

     Members of the public who plan to go to the affected areas are advised to use public transport. In cases of traffic obstruction, motorists are urged to exercise tolerance, and follow the directions of the Police. Members of the public should listen to the radio broadcasts for the latest traffic news.
