TD to launch Pilot Project on Kowloon East Driver Licensing Counter

    The Transport Department (TD) will launch a pilot project with the Hongkong Post on Monday (April 10, 2006) to set up new service counters in the Kowloon East Post Office to provide licensing services.  Under the name "Kowloon East Driver Licensing Counters" (KEDLC), the two designated counters will provide most of the driving licence-related services currently being handled by the Kwun Tong Licensing Office.  

     Situated at the Kowloon East Post Office on the Ground Floor, Kowloon East Government Offices, 12 Lei Yue Mun Road, Kwun Tong, Kowloon, KEDLC will provide the following driving licence-related services from 9.30am to 4pm, Monday to Friday, and from 9.30am to 11.30am on Saturday:

*    Issue of Learner's Driving Licence
*    Issue/ Renewal of Probationary Driving Licence
*    Issue/ Renewal of Full Driving Licence
*    Addition of driving entitlement
*    Renewal of Driving Instructor's Licence
*    Issue of Duplicate Driving Licence / Duplicate Driving Instructor's Licence
*    Change of address of driving licence holder

     The Kwun Tong Licensing Office will continue to provide some 20 licensing services other than those listed above.

     The TD will review the pilot project in six months' time.  The pilot project, if successful in terms of operation and utilisation, will allow the TD more flexibility in providing licensing services to the public through different channels in co-operation with other agents.
