Seriousness of illegal LGV operation not underestimated

A Transport Department spokesman reiterated in replying to media enquiries today (April 12) that the department would not underestimate the seriousness of the problem of light goods vehicle (LGV) suspected of illegal operation. The department would work hard with the Police and the Airport Authority to prosecute the offenders in addition to publicising and educating the LGV operators and passengers about the distinction between LGVs and taxis, the insurance implications for the LGVs and adopt other measures.

The taxi trade was welcome to make suggestions that would help to effectively combat such illegal activities, the spokesman added.
