Airport Tunnel renamed as Kai Tak Tunnel from May 4

The Transport Department today (May 2) announced that the Airport Tunnel, which connects Kowloon City Road and Kai Fuk Road in Kowloon Bay, will be renamed as "Kai Tak Tunnel" from May 4, 2006.

Having consulted the Kowloon City District Council and the public, the Government decided to rename Airport Tunnel as "Kai Tak Tunnel" to commemorate the former Hong Kong International Airport, which was commonly known as the Kai Tak Airport.

Members of the public and relevant parties would be informed. It is hoped that the public would soon be familiar with the new name.
