Special traffic and transport arrangements for One World One Dream May 4 Youth Parade 2006

     The Transport Department today (May 5) reminded people that the One World One Dream May 4 Youth Parade 2006 would be held at the Wan Chai Sports Ground on Sunday (May 7).  The parade will start at Wan Chai Sports Ground and continue along Tonnochy Road, Hung Hing Road, Marsh Road, Hennessy Road eastbound, Yee Wo Street eastbound and Sugar Street.

     To facilitate the event, a series of temporary traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented in Wan Chai and Causeway Bay from 12.30pm to 5.30pm in phases. The arrangements include:

1. Road closure and traffic diversion will be implemented at Wan Chai and Causeway Bay, which include Marsh Road, Marsh Road flyover and sections of Tonnochy Road and Hung Hing Road.  Hennessy Road east of Fleming Road, Yee Wo Street west of Sugar Street, a section of Canal Road East between Lockhart Road and Hennessy Road, and Sugar Street will also be closed prior to the commencement of parade.  Motorists are advised to pay attention to the traffic signs and directions of the Police.

2. Regarding the public transport services, 42 bus routes and 4 green minibus routes which operate along the closed roads will be temporarily diverted.  The concerned public transport operators will arrange publicity to inform affected passengers of the temporary arrangements.

3. The public light bus stands at Sugar Street and taxi stands at Harbour Road will be temporarily suspended.

4. The motorcycle parking spaces at Marsh Road and the metered parking spaces at Hing Fat Street will also be temporarily suspended.
 
     People who plan to go to the affected areas are advised to use public transport. In cases of traffic congestion, motorists are urged to exercise tolerance and patience, and take heed of directions of the Police in the affected areas. The public should listen to the radio broadcasts for the latest traffic news.
