TD response to slow-drive protest of LGV

In response to the slow-drive protest and petition of the light goods vehicles (LGV) today (May 7), a Transport Department (TD) spokesman said the Government and Hong Kong Airport Authority (AA) had all along maintained communications with the LGV and taxi trades, and exchanged with them views of LGV operation.

The AA had, on April 6, consulted the LGV and taxi trades respectively about suggestions on diversifications of goods and passengers transportation. Other views had also been received from the trades afterwards. The AA would consult the trades further before implementing any measures.

The TD, together with the Police and AA, had invited the LGV and taxi trades for meetings in the week to further discuss the suggestions concerned.

"We hope the trades would express their views in a rational manner, strive for an arrangement that would be accepted by all parties, and avoid any action that would cause inconvenience to members of the public," the spokesman said.
