Transport Department arrangements for public procession

     The Transport Department reminds the public today (May 26) that a public procession will be held at Victoria Park at about 3.15pm on May 28 (Sunday). The procession will start at Victoria Park and end at Central Government Offices, via Sugar Street, Yee Wo Street westbound, Hennessy Road westbound, Queensway westbound, Queen's Road Central westbound and Battery Path.

     To facilitate the above procession, a series of temporary traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented in Causeway Bay from about 2.30pm on that day. The arrangements include:

1. Road closures and traffic diversions will be implemented at Causeway Bay, including at Gloucester Road southbound between Victoria Park flyover and Causeway Road, Gloucester Road northbound south of Sugar Street, Sugar Street, Yee Wo Street westbound, Jardine's Bazaar, Hennessy Road westbound between Yee Wo Street and Percival Street and Lee Garden Road between Kai Chiu Road and Hennessy Road. In addition, the slow lane of Hennessy Road westbound west of Percival Street, Queensway westbound and Queen's Road Central east of Ice House Street will be temporarily closed. Motorists are advised to pay attention to the traffic signs and directions of the Police.

2. The time of the closure of Lee Garden Road Pedestrian Precinct between Kai Chiu Road and Pak Sha Road will be deferred from 12 noon to 4.30pm.

3. Regarding the public transport services, 39 bus routes and one green minibus route which operate along the closed roads will be temporarily diverted. The concerned public transport operators will arrange publicity to inform affected passengers of the temporary arrangements.

4. The public light bus stand at Sugar Street will be temporarily suspended.

5. Some of the metered parking spaces at Hing Fat Street will also be temporarily suspended.  

     Members of the public who plan to go to the affected areas are advised to use public transport. In cases of traffic congestion, motorists are urged to exercise tolerance and patience, and take heed of directions of the Police in the affected areas. The public should listen to radio broadcasts for the latest traffic news.
