SECTION 7 - TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS This section provides some general statistics on the injury road traffic accidents occurred in Hong Kong and the casualties as a result of them. The traffic injury accident data collected by the Police are coded and stored in a Traffic Accident Database System (TRADS) which is managed by the Road Safety and Standards Division of the Transport Department. The Road Safety and Standards Division uses these data to identify locations of accident blacksites for investigations and remedial measures. The database also serves as an important reference and basis in the formulation of road safety strategies, publicity/education programmes and in the review of road safety legislation and policies.
