TRANSPORT DEPARTMENT NOTICE

Temporary Traffic Arrangements in Central District

        Notice is hereby given that to facilitate the construction works of the Central Interchange of the Central – Wan Chai Bypass and Island Eastern Corridor Link, the following temporary traffic arrangements will be implemented from 10.00 am on 22 October 2011:

I.           Closure/ Opening of Roads

 

(a)         The section of Finance Street westbound from its junction with Man Yiu Street to a point about 75 metres west of the same junction will be temporarily closed;

(b)        The closed section of Finance Street from a point about 100 metres west of its junction with Man Yiu Street to a point about 185 metres west of the same junction will be re-opened for eastbound vehicular traffic; and

(c)        A temporary unnamed slip road (opposite to Central Pier No. 4) leading from Man Kwong Street westbound to Finance Street will be opened for vehicular traffic.

 

II.        Temporary Traffic Arrangement

 

 

(a)      The vehicle length restriction at temporary unnamed slip road from Man Po Street to Finance Street for all vehicles exceeding the length of 8 metres will be rescinded.  All vehicles exceeding the length of 8 metres on Finance Street eastbound will be prohibited from making right turn onto Finance Street westbound at the U-turn slip road near the ingress of Hong Kong Station Public Transport Interchange.

(b)            All affected vehicles on Man Yiu Street northbound heading for International Finance Centre will be diverted via roundabout, Man Kwong Street westbound and the temporary unnamed slip road leading from Man Kwong Street westbound to Finance Street; and

(c)            All affected vehicles on Man Kwong Street eastbound and from Central Pier Nos. 7, 8 &9 heading for International Finance Centre will be diverted via the roundabout, Man Kwong Street westbound and the temporary unnamed slip road leading from Man Kwong Street westbound to Finance Street.

 

III.     Temporary Public Transport Arrangement

 

 

(1)             XHT Bus Route Nos. 621 and 681 heading for Central (Hong Kong Station) will be diverted via Man Yiu Street and Man Cheung Street before resuming its original routeing to the bus terminus at Hong Kong Station;

(2)               Bus stop for XHT Route Nos. 621 and 681 at Man Yiu Street northbound outside Two International Finance Centre will be temporarily relocated to Man Cheung Street westbound outside MTR Hong Kong Station; and

(3)              Green Minibus Route Nos. 1, 1A, 2, 3 and 3A heading for Central (Hong Kong Station) will be diverted via Man Yiu Street northbound, roundabout, Man Kwong Street westbound, and the temporary unnamed slip road leading from Man Kwong Street westbound to Finance Street before resuming their normal routeing on Finance Street.

 

Appropriate traffic signs will be erected on site to guide motorists.  The public transport operators will display notices to advise passengers on the above public transport arrangements.
