Special Traffic and Transport Arrangements in Sha Tin for Che Kung Festival 2012

         Notice is hereby given that the following special traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented in Sha Tin for the Che Kung Festival 2012 during the Lunar New Year festive period:

         (I)              ROAD CLOSURES

        (A)              From 8.00 pm on 24 January 2012 to 6.00 pm on 25 January 2012, the following road sections will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic, except for emergency vehicles:

 

        (B)                From 8.00 pm on 24 January 2012 to 6.00 pm on 25 January 2012, the following cycle tracks will be temporarily closed:

     During the closure of the above cycle tracks, cyclists are advised to use the cycle track along the northern riverside of Shing Mun River Channel between Lion Rock Tunnel Road and Shing Wan Road to/from Sha Tin.

  

        (II)            PUBLIC TRANSPORT SERVICES ARRANGEMENTS

        (A)           Suspension of Bus and Green Minibus (GMB) Stops

        During the period of the above road closures, the following bus and GMB stops will be suspended:

        The stop at Che Kung Miu Road westbound outside Lee Uk Village near Che Kung Temple for KMB Route Nos. 81C, 81M, 82K, 85B, 86A, 86C, 87A, 87B, 89B, Cross Harbour Route Nos. 170, 182, N170, N182, N281, Airport Route Nos. E42, N42 and GMB Route Nos. 68K, 803, 804.

 

        (B)      Temporary Pick-up/Drop-off Arrangements for Taxis and Non-franchised Buses

        During the period of the above road closures,

        (C)      Strengthening of Public Transport Services

        During the Lunar New Year festive period, East Rail Line and Ma On Shan Line services, and franchised bus and GMB services to/from its Tai Wai and Che Kung Temple Stations will be strengthened to cater for passenger demand when necessary.  

        (III)           Suspension of Car Park     

        The public car park adjacent to Che Kung Temple will be suspended, except for emergency vehicles and those authorised by Police officers on site from 7.00 am on 22 January 2012 to 8.00 pm on 25 January 2012, from 7.00 am to 6.00 pm on 28 January, 29 January, 4 February, 5 February, 6 February, 11 February, 12 February, 18 February and 19 February 2012 respectively.


        (IV)           CROWD CONTROL

        During the Lunar New Year festive period, one-way pedestrian circulation system will be implemented at Che Kung Temple.  Members of the public are advised to follow the designated pedestrian route to/from the Temple and to follow the instructions given by Police officers on site.

 

        (V)          ATTENTION AND APPEAL

        Appropriate traffic aids will be provided and Police officers will be stationed on site to guide the pedestrians and motorists. The public transport operators will display notices at the stops and inside vehicle compartments to advise passengers of the above temporary transport arrangements. Actual implementation of the road closure, traffic control and traffic diversions will be made by Police officer at the time depending on the traffic and crowd situation.

        Motorists are advised that strict enforcement including multiple ticketing and towing of unauthorized parked vehicles will be taken by the Police in the areas concerned.

        Due to the foreseeable busy traffic in Tai Wai area, members of the public are strongly advised to use public transport services to go to Che Kung Temple during the Lunar New Year festive period.
