Special Traffic and Transport Arrangements
in Tseung Kwan O Chinese Permanent Cemetery for Ching Ming Festival 2012
Notice is hereby given that the following special traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented in the vicinity of Tseung Kwan O Chinese Permanent Cemetery to facilitate vehicular movements and to ensure pedestrian safety during the Ching Ming Festival 2012: -
(I) Temporary Road Closure
The access road leading to Tseung Kwan O Chinese Permanent Cemetery will be closed to vehicular traffic on the following Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays during the period from 4 March 2012 to 1 May 2012. Particulars are as follows: -
(a) General Closure
Between 5.30 am and 6.00 pm on 4, 10, 11, 17, 24 and 31 March 2012, 6, 7, 9, 14, 21, 28 and 29 April 2012, and 1 May 2012 (except for emergency vehicles, KMB Special Route No. 14S, hearses, vehicles in funeral processions and vehicles possessing valid entry permit issued by Tseung Kwan O Chinese Permanent Cemetery).
(b) Full Closure
Between 5.30 am and 8.00 pm on 18 and 25 March 2012, 1, 4 (the day of Ching Ming Festival), 8, 15 and 22 April 2012 (except for emergency vehicles only).
Grave sweepers could go to Tseung Kwan O Chinese Permanent Cemetery on foot via the access road on Ko Chiu Road or via the new footpath opposite MTR Tiu Keng Leng Station. (Remark: There are staircases on the new footpath. Grave sweepers using wheel chairs should use the entrance at Ko Chiu Road to enter the cemetery).
(II) KMB Special Route No. 14S
A KMB Special Route No. 14S plying between Lei Yue Mun Road (the southbound bus stop south of the St. Antonius Girls' College) and the Tseung Kwan O Chinese Permanent Cemetery will be operated between 7.00 am and 5.25 pm on all general closure days, i.e. 4, 10, 11, 17, 24 and 31 March 2012, 6, 7, 9, 14, 21, 28 and 29 April 2012, and 1 May 2012. The drop off point of the said route in Yau Tong will be provided on Ko Chiu Road outside Lei Yue Mun Estate. Grave sweepers are advised that there will be no bus service on the full closure day (i.e. 18 and 25 March 2012, 1, 4 (the day of Ching Ming Festival), 8, 15 and 22 April 2012).
(III) Temporary Drop-off points for Taxis and Public Light Bus (PLB)
The following temporary drop-off points will be designated for taxi and PLB passengers for interchanging with KMB Route No. 14S or walking to the Cemetery:
1) the non-restricted zone on Ko Chiu Road northbound near Ko Yee Estate;
2) the layby on Lei Yue Mun Road southbound outside Lei Yue Mun Road Playground;
3) the non-restricted zone on Lei Yue Mun Road northbound outside Lei Yue Mun Plaza; and
4) the non-restricted zone on Lei Yue Mun Road northbound outside Shuk Mei House of Yau Mei Court.
Serious traffic congestion is anticipated at the adjoining roads leading to Tseung Kwan O Chinese Permanent Cemetery on the day of and the holidays close to Ching Ming Festival. Taking into account the limited supply of parking spaces in the area, grave sweepers are advised to visit the Cemetery on other days and to use public transport. They are also advised to avoid going to the Cemetery during the busy hours between 12.00 noon and 2.00 pm.
