TRANSPORT DEPARTMENT NOTICE

Temporary Traffic and Transport Arrangements in To Kwa Wan and Kowloon City


             Notice is hereby given that in connection with the construction of Shatin to Central Link, the following temporary traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented in To Kwa Wan and Kowloon City from 1.15am to 5am on 20 July 2014:

A. Temporary Road Closure

(i) East Kowloon Corridor (both bounds), Kai Tak Tunnel (eastbound), the section of San Shan Road (westbound) between To Kwa Wan Road and East Kowloon Corridor will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic.
(ii) One traffic lane of Kai Tak Tunnel (westbound) will be temporarily closed.

B. Traffic Diversions

During the road closure period, affected vehicles may use the following alternative routeings:

(i) Vehicles on Chatham Road North (northbound) heading for To Kwa Wan: via Chatham Road North (northbound), Ma Tau Wai Road (northbound), Chi Kiang Street (eastbound), To Kwa Wan Road (northbound), Lok Shan Road (westbound) and Kowloon City Road (northbound).
(ii) Vehicles on Chatham Road North (northbound) heading for Kowloon Bay: via Chatham Road North (northbound), Ma Tau Wai Road (northbound), Ma Tau Chung Road (northbound), Prince Edward Road East (eastbound) and Kwun Tong Road (eastbound).
(iii) Vehicles on Kai Tak Tunnel (westbound) heading for Hung Hom and Hong Kong: via San Shan Road (eastbound), To Kwa Wan Road (southbound), Ma Tau Wai Road (southbound), Gillies Avenue North (southbound), Hok Yuen Street (westbound) and Chatham Road North (southbound).
(iv) Vehicles on To Kwa Wan Road (southbound) / San Ma Tau Street heading for Hung Hom and Hong Kong: via To Kwa Wan Road (southbound), Ma Tau Wai Road (southbound), Gillies Avenue North (southbound), Hok Yuen Street (westbound) and Chatham Road North (southbound).
(v) Vehicles on To Kwa Wan Road (northbound) heading for Hung Hom and Hong Kong: via San Ma Tau Street (eastbound), San Ma Tau Street (westbound), To Kwa Wan Road (southbound), Ma Tau Wai Road (southbound), Gillies Avenue North (southbound), Hok Yuen Street (westbound) and Chatham Road North (southbound).

C. Public Transport Arrangements

During the road closure period, the following bus and green minibus (GMB) diversions will be implemented:

(i)   New World First Bus route N796 and GMB route 62S heading for Tsim Sha Tsui direction will be diverted via San Shan Road (eastbound), To Kwa Wan Road (southbound), Ma Tau Wai Road (southbound), Gillies Avenue North (southbound) and Hok Yuen Street (westbound) before resuming its normal routing on Chatham Road North.
(ii)   GMB route 62S heading for Lam Tin will be diverted via Chatham Road North (northbound), Ma Tau Wai Road (northbound), Ma Tau Chung Road (northbound), Prince Edward Road East (eastbound), Kwun Tong Road (eastbound) and Kai Cheung Road (westbound) before resuming its normal routing on Wang Kwong Road.


            Actual implementation of the traffic arrangement and traffic control will be made by the police depending on the traffic condition in the area.  Appropriate traffic signs will be erected on site to guide motorists. Motorists should exercise tolerance and patience in case of traffic congestion, and observe the instructions given by the police.  The bus companies will display notices to advise passengers of the above temporary arrangement.
