TRAFFIC ADVICE

SPECIAL TRAFFIC AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS IN SHA TIN
FOR THE HOLDING OF THE 5th HONG KONG GAMES
THE JOCKEY CLUB VITALITY RUN

        Members of the public are advised that the following special traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented in Sha Tin to facilitate the holding of the 5th Hong Kong Games The Jockey Club Vitality Run on 8 March 2015:

        (I)    SPECIAL TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENTS

               (A)    Road and Cycle Track Closures

(a)  The following road sections will be closed to all vehicular traffic (except for emergency vehicles) during the time specified below:

From 7.00 am to 10.00 am

(i)   the section of Yuen Wo Road westbound between Sha Tin Rural Committee Road and Fo Tan Road;

(ii)  the section of Sha Tin Rural Committee Road southbound between Yuen Wo Road and Tai Chung Kiu Road;

(iii)  the section of Tai Chung Kiu Road eastbound between Sha Tin Rural Committee Road and Fo Tan Road; and

(iv)  the section of Fo Tan Road northbound between Yuen Wo Road and Tai Chung Kiu Road.

From 8.15 am to 9.30 am

(v) the section of Yuen Wo Road east of New Territories Fire Command Headquarters (near Hong Kong Sports Institute).

(b)  The following cycle track section will be closed during the time specified below:

From 7.00 am to 10.00 am

(i) the section of cycle track along the western riverside of Shing Mun River Channel between the Twin Bridge (located near Sha Tin Sewage Treatment Works) and Sha Tin Rural Committee Road.

               (B)    Traffic Diversions

During the above road closure period, the following traffic diversions will be implemented:

(i) Motorists on Yuen Wo Road westbound or Fo Tan Road southbound heading for Sha Tin Central will be diverted to travel via Fo Tan Road southbound, Tai Chung Kiu Road westbound, Sha Tin Rural Committee Road northbound and Yuen Wo Road eastbound;

(ii) Motorists on Sha Tin Rural Committee Road southbound or Yuen Wo Road eastbound heading for Tai Chung Kiu Road / Sha Tin Wai Road are advised to travel via Yuen Wo Road eastbound, Fo Tan Road southbound and Tai Chung Kiu Road;

(iii) Motorists on Tai Chung Kiu Road eastbound or Sha Tin Wai Road northbound heading for Ma On Shan / City One Shatin / Kwong Yuen areas are advised to travel via Sha Tin Rural Committee Road northbound, Yuen Wo Road eastbound, Fo Tan Road southbound and Tai Chung Kiu Road eastbound; and

(iv) Motorists on Sha Tin Road northbound or Tai Chung Kiu Road westbound heading for Fo Tan Road / Yuen Wo Road are advised to travel via Tai Chung Kiu Road westbound, Sha Tin Rural Committee Road northbound and Yuen Wo Road eastbound.

        During the above cycle track closure period, cyclists may use the cycle track along the Banyan Bridge, Tai Chung Kiu Road and Twin Bridge to travel between Sha Tin, Tai Po or Ma On Shan.

        (II)   PUBLIC TRANSPORT SERVICES ARRANGEMENTS

               (A)    Bus and Green Minibus ("GMB") Route Diversion

During the above road closure period, the following bus and GMB route diversions will be implemented:

(i) KMB routes no. 80M (Kowloon Tong bound), 85 (Kowloon City Ferry bound), 280X (Tsim Sha Tsui East bound) and GMB routes no. 60K (Sha Tin Station bound) and 62K (Sha Tin Station bound) on Fo Tan Road southbound will be re-routed to operate via Tai Po Road westbound before resuming their normal routeings;

(ii) KMB routes no. 48X (Bayview Garden bound), 81 (Jordan bound), 89 (Kwun Tong Station bound) and 269D (Tin Fu bound) on Wo Che Street will be re-routed to operate via Yuen Wo Road eastbound, Fo Tan Road northbound and Tai Po Road westbound before resuming their normal routeings;

(iii) KMB route no. 72 (Cheung Sha Wan bound) on Tai Po Road westbound will be re-routed to operate via Tai Po Road westbound, Sha Tin Rural Committee Road southbound, Yuen Wo Road westbound and Tam Kon Po Street before resuming its normal routeing;

(iv) KMB routes no. 81K (Sun Tin Wai bound) and 88K (Hin Keng bound) on Fo Tan Road southbound will be re-routed to operate via Tai Po Road westbound and Sha Tin Central Bus Terminus before resuming their normal routeings;

(v) GMB routes no. 65K, 801, 811, 811A and 811S (Fo Tan bound) on Tai Chung Kiu Road westbound will be re-routed to operate via Sha Tin Rural Committee Road northbound and Yuen Wo Road eastbound before resuming their normal routeings;

(vi) KMB routes no. 40X (Kwai Chung Estate bound), 43X (Tsuen Wan bound), 85K (Sha Tin Station bound), Airport bus route no. A41P (Airport bound) and GMB route no. 810 (Sha Tin Central bound) on A Kung Kok Street westbound; KMB route no. 72A (Tai Wai bound) on Fo Tan Road southbound; and KMB routes no. 73A (Fanling bound), 80K (Sun Chui bound) and 86 (Mei Foo bound) on Tai Chung Kiu Road westbound will be re-routed to operate via Tai Chung Kiu Road westbound and Sha Tin Rural Committee Road before resuming their normal routeings;

(vii) KMB routes no. 49X (Kwong Yuen bound), 284 (Ravana Garden bound), 299X (Sai Kung bound) and GMB route no. 65A (Wong Nai Tau bound) on Yuen Wo Road eastbound; and GMB routes no. 67K (A Kung Kok bound) and 67A (Shek Mun bound) on Sha Tin Rural Committee Road southbound will be re-routed to operate via Yuen Wo Road eastbound and Fo Tan Road southbound before resuming their normal routeings;

(viii) Airport bus route no. E42 (Pok Hong bound) from Sha Tin Central Bus Terminus will be re-routed to operate via Pak Hok Ting Street, Sha Tin Centre Street, Lion Rock Tunnel Road southbound and Tai Chung Kiu Road eastbound before resuming its normal routeing;

(ix) KMB route no. 88X (Ping Tin bound) and Cross Harbour bus route no. 170 (Wah Fu bound) on Sha Tin Rural Committee Road southbound will be re-routed to operate via Tai Po Road eastbound, Fo Tan Road southbound and Tai Chung Kiu Road westbound before resuming their normal routeings;

(x) KMB route no. 47X (Chun Shek bound) from Sha Tin Central Bus Terminus will be re-routed to operate via Wang Pok Street, Yuen Wo Road, Tam Kon Po Street, Sha Tin Centre Street, Pak Hok Ting Street, Sha Tin Centre Street, Lion Rock Tunnel Road southbound, Tai Chung Kiu Road eastbound and Sha Tin Wai Road southbound before resuming its normal routeing;

(xi) NWFB route no. 798 (Tiu Keng Leng bound) from Sha Tin Central Bus Terminus will be re-routed to operate via Sha Tin Centre Street, Pak Hok Ting Street, Sha Tin Centre Street, Lion Rock Tunnel Road southbound, Tai Chung Kiu Road eastbound and Sha Tin Wai Road southbound before resuming its normal routeing;

(xii) GMB route no. 809K (Shui Chuen Au Street bound) on Sha Tin Rural Committee Road southbound will be re-routed to operate via Yuen Wo Road eastbound, Fo Tan Road southbound and Tai Chung Kiu Road westbound before resuming its normal routeing;

(xiii) KMB route no. 74A (Tai Wo bound), GMB routes no. 803 (Lee On bound) and 804 (Kwong Yuen bound) on Tai Chung Kiu Road eastbound will be re-routed to operate via Sha Tin Rural Committee Road northbound and Yuen Wo Road eastbound before resuming their normal routeings;

(xiv) KMB routes no. 86K (Kam Ying Court bound) and 89X (Kwun Tong Station bound) on Sha Tin Rural Committee Road southbound will be re-routed to operate via Tai Po Road eastbound and Fo Tan Road southbound before resuming their normal routeings;

(xv) KMB routes no. 81C (Yiu On bound), 86C (Lee On bound) and Airport bus route no. A41 (Yu Chui Court bound) on Tai Chung Kiu Road eastbound will be re-routed to operate via Sha Tin Wai Road southbound, Sha Tin Road and Tai Chung Kiu Road before resuming their normal routeings; and

(xvi) KMB route no. 85A (Kwong Yuen bound) and Cross Harbour bus route no. 182 (Yu Chui Court bound) on Sha Kok Street eastbbound will be re-routed to operate via Sha Tin Wai Road southbound and Sha Tin Road before resuming their normal routeings.

               (B)   Suspension of Bus and GMB Stops

During the above road closure period, the following bus and GMB Stops will be suspended:

(i)      the stop on Yuen Wo Road westbound outside Sha Tin Sports Ground for KMB routes no. 40X, 72, 72A, 80K, 80M, 81K, 85, 85K, 86, 88K and 280X; and GMB routes no. 60K, 62K and 810;

(ii)     the stop on Yuen Wo Road westbound outside Sha Tin Jockey Club Swimming Pool for KMB routes no. 40X, 48X, 72, 72A, 80K, 80M, 81, 81K, 85, 85K, 86, 88K, 89, 269D and 280X, GMB routes no. 60K, 62K and 810;

(iii)    the stop on Wang Pok Street outside Lucky Plaza for Airport bus route no. E42;

(iv)    the stop on Tai Chung Kiu Road eastbound opposite Regal Riverside Hotel for KMB routes no. 49X, 74A, 81C, 85A, 86C, 86K, 89X, 284 and 299X; Cross Harbour bus route no. 182, Airport bus route no. A41 and GMB routes no. 67A, 67K, 803, 804 and 809K; and

(v)     the stop on Tai Chung Kiu Road eastbound opposite to Belair Gardens for KMB routes no. 49X, 74A, 81C, 85A, 86C, 86K, 89X, 284 and 299X, Cross Harbour bus route no. 182, Airport bus route no. A41 and GMB routes no. 67A, 67K, 803 and 804.

               (C)   Provision of Temporary Bus and GMB Stops

During the above road closure period, the following temporary bus and GMB stops will be provided:

(i)     two temporary stops will be provided for KMB routes no. 49X, 74A , 284 and 299X on Yuen Wo Road eastbound outside Baptist Lui Ming Choi Secondary School and Wo Che Shopping Centre;

(ii)    two temporary stops will be provided for KMB routes no. 40X, 72A, 80K, 85K and 86 and GMB route no. 810 on Tai Chung Kiu Road westbound outside Belair Gardens and Garden Rivera;

(iii)   a temporary stop will be provided for Airport bus route no. A41 on Sha Tin Wai Road southbound outside Greenfield Court; and

(iv)   a temporary stop will be provided for KMB routes no. 81C, 85A and 86C and Cross Harbour route no. 182 on Sha Tin Wai Road outside Shatin Park.

        Actual implementation of the road and cycle track closures, traffic control and public transport diversions will be made by police officers on site at the time depending of the traffic and crowd condition.  Appropriate traffic signs will be provided and police officers will be stationed on site to guide public.  Bus companies and Green Minibus operators will display notices to advise passengers of the above special transport arrangements.
