Special Traffic and Transport Arrangements for Lunar New Year’s Fair

at Victoria Park from 2 February 2016 to 6 February 2016

 

To facilitate the holding of Lunar New Year’s Fair at Victoria Park, members of the public are advised that the following special traffic and transport arrangements may be implemented (depending on the prevailing crowd and traffic situation in the vicinity) from 2 February 2016 to 6 February 2016:

 

(A)            Road closures

 

Subject to prevailing crowd/traffic situation, the following roads will be closed by police. All private carparks, vehicular accesses, taxi stands and public light bus (‘PLB’) stands within the closed roads will be suspended until further notice.

         

(i)               Lockhart Road east of Percival Street;

 

(ii)             Jaffe Road east of Percival Street;

 

(iii)            Cannon Street;

 

(iv)            Paterson Street;

 

(v)             Great George Street;

 

(vi)            Sugar Street;

 

(vii)           Cleveland Street;

 

(viii)         Kingston Street;

 

(ix)            Gloucester Road northbound between Causeway Road and Great George Street;

 

(x)             Gloucester Road northbound between Great George Street and Victoria Park Road flyover (Tai Hang Road flyover northbound towards Central will remain open);

 

(xi)            Gloucester Road southbound between Causeway Road and Victoria Park Road flyover; and

 

(xii)           Hing Fat Street between Causeway Road and Lau Sin Street (except franchised buses and green minibuses (‘GMB’)).

 

(B)            Pedestrianization

           

Pedestrian scheme on the following roads will be implemented between 4.00 pm to 11.59 pm daily from 2 February 2016 to 5 February 2016, and between 12.00 noon to 11.59 pm on 6 February 2016.

 

(i)               Lockhart Road east of Cannon Street;

 

(ii)             East Point Road; and

 

(iii)            Great George Street west of Paterson Street.

 

(C)            Temporary suspension of parking spaces

 

(i)               All parking spaces in public car parks at the above closed roads will be suspended during road closure;

 

(ii)             Metered parking spaces 1604 – 1629 in Victoria Park car park in Hing Fat Street will be suspended from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm and from 8.00 pm to 10.00 pm daily from 2 February 2016 to 4 February 2016, and from 10.00 am to 12.00 noon on 5 February 2016; and

 

(iii)            Victoria Park car park in Hing Fat Street (except all disabled parking spaces) will be suspended from 2.00 pm on 6 February 2016 to 10.00 am on 8 February 2016.

 

(D)            Suspension and relocation of GMB Stops

 

The following GMB stands will be suspended during the road closure period:

 

(i)               The stand for HKI GMB route 4A in Cannon Street will be suspended and a pick up point will be temporarily designated on Gloucester Road service road near its junction with Percival Street;

 

(ii)             The stand for HKI GMB route 4C in Cannon Street will be suspended and a pick up point will be temporarily designated on Gloucester Road service road near its junction with Cannon Street;

 

(iii)            The stand for HKI GMB routes 5 and 69X on Lockhart Road will be suspended and a pick up point will be temporarily designated on Gloucester Road service road near its junction with Cannon Street;

 

(iv)            The stand for HKI GMB routes 10 and 31 on Jaffe Road east of Percival Street will be suspended and relocated to Jaffe Road eastbound between Canal Road East and Percival Street; and

 

(v)             The stand for HKI GMB route 25 in Paterson Street will be suspended and the route will be converted into circular service.

 

(E)            Public transport services arrangements

           

Additional departures of bus routes 2A, 2X, 8, 8P, 8X, 72, 72A, 96, 102, 112, 116, 118, 592, 601, 619, 680, 681, 962X, 962B, 969, N8, N8P, N8X, N72, N121, N122, N619, N680, N962 and N969 may be operated on 6 February 2016, subject to passenger demand.

 

(F)             Attention and appeal

 

Notices will be put up by public transport operators to advise passengers of the above temporary arrangements. Actual implementation of the road closure, traffic control and public transport diversions will be made by the Police at the time depending on the prevailing circumstances, traffic and crowd conditions in the areas. Motorists are advised that strict enforcement on illegal parking, including multiple ticketing and towing, will be taken by the Police in the affected areas.

 

Members of the public need to go to the affected area are advised to plan their journey early and allow more traveling time to cater for unexpected delay. Motorists are advised to avoid driving to the affected areas. Motorists should exercise tolerance and patience in case of traffic congestion, take heed of instruction of the Police and watch out for the latest traffic news through media.
