TRANSPORT DEPARTMENT NOTICE

Special Traffic and Transport Arrangements
for the 52nd Hong Kong Brands and Products Expo at Victoria Park

        Notice is hereby given that the following special traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented in the vicinity of Causeway Bay and Tin Hau to facilitate the holding of the 52nd Hong Kong Brands and Products Expo at Victoria Park from 16 December 2017 to 8 January 2018:

(I)        Special Traffic Arrangements

(A)   Pedestrianization

Pedestrianization will be implemented on the following road sections from 4.00 pm to 12.00 midnight on weekdays, and from 12.00 noon to 12.00 midnight on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays during the holding of the above event:

(i)  Lockhart Road east of Cannon Street;

(ii)  East Point Road; and

(iii)  Great George Street west of Paterson Street.

(B)   Road Closures and Traffic Diversions

Depending on the on-site crowd and traffic conditions, the following road closures and traffic diversions may be partially implemented or implemented simultaneously during the holding of the above event:

Road Closures

Traffic Diversions

Part 1:

(i)  The section of Gloucester Road southbound between Kingston Street and Causeway Road; and 

(ii)  Sugar Street.

(i)  Traffic along Victoria Park Road flyover will be diverted via Gloucester Road westbound; and

(ii)  Traffic along Yee Wo Street eastbound will be prohibited from entering Sugar Street.

Part 2:

(i)  The section of Gloucester Road northbound between Kingston Street and Causeway Road (except northbound traffic from Tai Hang Road flyover). 

(i)  Traffic along Tai Hang Road flyover northbound will be prohibited from making left turn onto Kingston Street westbound.

Part 3:

(i)  Great George Street; 

(ii)  The section of Paterson Street between Kingston Street and Great George Street; and

(iii)  The section of Kingston Street westbound between Gloucester Road northbound and Paterson Street.

(i)  Traffic along Paterson Street will be diverted via Kingston Street eastbound; and

(ii)  Traffic along Cleveland Street will be diverted via Kingston Street eastbound;

Part 4:

(i)  Cleveland Street;

(ii)  The section of Paterson Street between Gloucester Road westbound and Kingston Street; and

(iii)  The section of Kingston Street eastbound between Gloucester Road northbound and Paterson Street.

(i)  Traffic along Gloucester Road westbound will be prohibited from entering Cleveland Street and Paterson Street.

Part 5:

(i)  Intermittent closure of Hing Fat Street (except franchised buses and green minibuses);

(ii)  Intermittent closure of the section of Electric Road between Yacht Street and Hing Fat Street (except taxis and vehicles accessing to Park Towers);

(iii)  Intermittent closure of the section of Lau Li Street between Hing Fat Street and Ngan Mok Street; and

(iv)  The general lay-by at Hing Fat Street northbound near Lau Li Street.

(i)  Traffic along Causeway Road will be prohibited from entering Hing Fat Street.

(II)        Special Transport Arrangements

(A)   Suspension of Bus Terminus and Public Light Bus (PLB) Stands

Depending on the on-site crowd and traffic conditions, the Tin Hau Station Public Transport Interchange (PTI) and PLB stands at Paterson Street and Sugar Street may be suspended during the holding of the above event. The bus and green minibus termini inside the Tin Hau Station PTI will be temporarily relocated to Ngan Mok Street and the lay-by on Tung Lo Wan Road outside Metropark Hotel Causeway Bay respectively during the suspension period.

(B)   Suspension of Taxi Stands

Depending on the on-site crowd and traffic conditions, the taxi stands at Paterson Street and Lau Li Street may be suspended during the holding of the above event.

(C)   Temporary Bus Stop Arrangements

The bus stops on Causeway Road outside Victoria Park will be suspended, relocated or temporarily provided during the holding of the above event. Members of the public can make enquiries to the bus companies on the details:

(D)   Suspension of Parking Spaces

The Hing Fat Street Public Carpark (except the 10 metered parking spaces, disabled parking spaces and 4 motorcycle parking spaces near the exit of the carpark) will be suspended from 10.00 am to 8.59 pm daily between 13 December 2017 to 9 January 2018.  Only police vehicles and vehicles authorized by the organizer will be allowed to enter the above carpark for boarding/alighting passengers or loading/ unloading of goods.

(E)   Restrictions on Access to/Exit from Carparks and Hotels

Vehicles access to and from all carparks along Great George Street and the Park Lane Hotel may be restricted at short notice during implementation of the above road closure by the Police. Vehicles parked in carparks within the road closure areas and the hotel may not be permitted to leave the car parks until the road closure is lifted.

Attention and Appeal

Appropriate traffic signs will be erected to guide motorists. The public transport operators will display notices at the stops and inside vehicle compartments to advise passengers of the above special transport arrangements.

The actual implementation of road closures, traffic control and diversion measures will be exercised or altered by the Police depending on the prevailing crowd and traffic conditions. Strict enforcement on illegal parking, including multiple ticketing and towing, will be taken by Police when necessary. Motorists are advised to be patient when driving in the vicinity and follow the Police’s instruction, and watch out for the announcements by the Transport Department and the Police, and the latest traffic news through the media.

The Transport Department anticipates that the traffic in the vicinity of Causeway Bay and Tin Hau will be busy during the holding of the above event. Members of the public are advised to use public transport services as far as possible and avoid driving to the affected areas. Early planning of the journeys is advised to cater for unexpected delay. Public transport passengers are advised to pay attention to the special public transport arrangements.
