There are substantial commercial, retail and other economic activities in Yuen Long. Insufficient road space to accommodate both vehicular traffic and pedestrians may contribute to traffic accidents. In order to improve the environment and safety for pedestrians, Transport Department has implemented pedestrian schemes at Yuen Long New Street

Part-time Pedestrian Street

The following part-time pedestrian street has been operating between 8:00a.m. and 8 p.m. on Sundays and Public Holidays since October 2002:

Yuen Long New Street

With the support of the Yuen Long District Board for the part time pedestrian scheme for Yuen Long New Street, it has become daily operated since 1 December 2004.

To facilitate the implementation of the daily part-time scheme for Yuen Long New Street, the following traffic measures have been implemented.

	Designate part-time no stopping restriction Zone at Mau Tan Street, Fau Tsoi Street, Hop Choi Street and Tai Tong Road.
	Designate loading/unloading areas at Mau Tan Street, Fau Tsoi Street, Hop Choi Street and Tai Tong Road.
