Hong Kong Strategic Routes

The Strategic Route Map shows:
* The 3 north-south routes (Routes 1, 2 and 3) pass through the 3 cross harbour tunnels, and their numbering sequence follows the opening of the three cross harbour tunnels (i.e. Cross Harbour Tunnel, Eastern Harbour Crossing and Western Harbour Crossing);
* The five east-west routes (Routes 4, 5, 7, 8 and 10) have sequences starting from south to north;
* The circular Route 9 circumscribes the New Territories.
The individual Route Diagrams shows:
* The exit numbers and their associated designations along the routes.

Example on the use of diagrams:
Suppose your journey is from Yau Ma Tei to the Airport.
1.  Using the Strategic Route Map, identify that you need to travel via Route 3 and Route 8.
2. Using the Route Diagrams (in this example, diagrams for Route 3 and Route 8), identify that you need to exit from Route 3 at Exit no. 5 to Route 8 and travel toward the airport.
3. Just remember 3 - 5 - 8 (Route 3, Exit 5 then Route 8) during journey and note these numbers shown on directional signs.
