Hong Kong Strategic Routes

The Strategic Route Map shows:
* The three north-south routes (Routes 1, 2 and 3) pass through the three cross harbour tunnels, and their numbering sequence follows the opening of the three cross harbour tunnels (i.e. Cross Harbour Tunnel, Eastern Harbour Crossing and Western Harbour Crossing);
* The five east-west routes (Routes 4, 5, 7, 8 and 10) have sequences starting from south to north; (Route 6 is reserved for future route)
* The circular Route 9 circumscribes the New Territories.
The individual Route Diagrams shows:
* The exit numbers and their associated designations along the routes.

Example on the use of diagrams:

Suppose your journey is from Yuen Long to the Airport.
1.  Using the Strategic Route Map, identify that you need to travel via Route 3 and Route 8.
2. Using the Route Diagrams (in this example, diagrams for Route 3 and Route 8), identify that you need to exit from Route 3 at Exit no. 5 to Route 8 and travel toward the airport.
3. Just remember 3 - 5 - 8 (Route 3, Exit 5 then Route 8) during journey and note these numbers shown on directional signs.
