2.1 Flow Chart for Obtaining a Full Driving Licence
To obtain a full driving licence with test, you should follow the following steps:

2.2 Apply for a Learner's Driving Licence

2.3 Make a Driving Test Appointment

2.3.1 How to apply?

2.3.3 What is a driving test form?
| |
 |
The driving test form entitles you to take all parts of a driving test within the validity period of the form which is 18 months. It becomes invalidated if you fail in any part of the driving test. You need to apply for a new driving test form if you wish to take the driving test again. |

The driving test form also becomes invalidated if you fail to attend a driving test under appointment unless: |
| |

| (a) |
You have given seven clear days' prior notice to the Commissioner for Transport of your inability to attend the test. For the purpose of satisfying the requirement of seven clear days of notice, the day of scheduled test and that day on which the notice is deemed to be given are excluded. In other words, there should be seven days between these two days; or |
| (b) |
The Commissioner for Transport is satisfied that you, through circumstances beyond your control, are unable to attend the test. |

|
A new driving test appointment will be arranged for circumstances under (a) and (b) above provided that the test appointment can be arranged within the 18-month validity period of the driving test form, otherwise you have to apply for a new driving test form. |
2.4 Take a Driving Test

The driving tests for various vehicle classes are different. You must pass all parts of a driving test before you are eligible to apply for a full driving licence. |

Once you have passed the written test (Part A test), you will not be required to take the same test again when you apply for the licence of other classes of vehicle. |

If you enroll with a designated driving school established in accordance with the Road Traffic Ordinance (Cap.374), you are required to comply with the school regulations and pass the tests arranged by the school. |
2.5 Apply for a Probationary Driving Licence (For Motorcyclists Only)

Probationary driving licence is only applicable to motorcyclists. A probationary driving licence can be applied within 3 years after passing all parts of the motor cycle driving test. |

There are some special conditions for probationary driving licence at Appendix B. You are advised to read these conditions carefully if you are to apply for such a licence. |

2.6 Apply for a Full Driving Licence
 |
Except for motor cycle and special purpose vehicle, you can apply for a full driving licence within 3 years after passing all parts of the driving test. A motorcyclist can apply for a full driving licence to drive motor cycle within 3 years from the date of his satisfactory completion of the 12-month probationary driving period. |
