1.21 Commercial Vehicles (i.e. Medium and Heavy Goods Vehicle, Taxi, Private and Public Light Bus, Private and Public Bus)
  * Age 21 or above.
  * Holding a Hong Kong Permanent Identity Card; or holding a Hong Kong Identity Card (other than a Hong Kong Permanent Identity Card) and is not subject to any condition of stay other than a limit of stay as defined in section 2(1) of the Immigration Ordinance (Cap. 115) (please refer to FAQ for details).
  * Physically fit to drive (please refer to Appendix A for details).
  * Holding a valid full driving licence for private cars or light goods vehicles for at least 3 years immediately preceding the application.
  * Have not been convicted of Section 36 (causing death by dangerous driving), Section 39 (driving a motor vehicle under the influence of drink or drugs), Section 39A (driving, attempting to drive or being in charge of a motor vehicle with alcohol concentration above prescribed limit), Section 39B (screening breath tests) and Section 39C (provision of specimens for analysis) of the Road Traffic Ordinance (Cap. 374) during the 5 years preceding the application.

1.22  Articulated Vehicle
  * In addition to requirements for commercial vehicles, an applicant has to hold a valid full driving licence for medium goods vehicles or heavy goods vehicles.

1.23  Special Purpose Vehicle
  * In addition to requirements for commercial vehicles, an applicant has to hold a full driving licence which entitles him to drive a vehicle of the same gross vehicle weight as that of the special purpose vehicle under application.

1.3  Additional Requirement for Applicants Aged 70 or Above
  * For those aged 70 or above, they are required to produce a medical certificate or a form (TD256 PDF (77KB)) entitled "Medical examination for an applicant of 70 years of age or above for a full or learner's driving licence". The certificate or form should be issued or completed by a registered medical practitioner and the issuing date must not exceed 4 months on the date of application. The form can be obtained from any Licensing Office or the Transport Department's website http://www.td.gov.hk.
