Special Traffic and Transport Arrangements

for Cheung Chau Bun Festival Celebrations 2008

 

 

                    Notice is hereby given that the following special traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented at Central and Cheung Chau in connection with Bun Festival Celebrations 2008.

 

(A)  Ferry Service

 

                    The ferry service plying between Central and Cheung Chau will be strengthened on 12 May 2008 (Monday) and 13 May 2008 (Tuesday).  Additional sailings will be operated to meet passenger demand as and when required.  In order to cope with the passenger demand after "Bun Scrambling Competition", an additional sailing will be departed from Cheung Chau to Central at 1:15 am on 13 May 2008 (Tuesday).

 

(B)   Bus Service

 

                    From about 12.30 a.m. to 2.30 a.m. on 13 May 2008, (i) a special bus service route no. 104R will be operated from Central Pier No. 5 to Mong Kok, and (ii) departures of overnight bus route nos. N8X (Central (Macau Ferry) - Siu Sai Wan), N90 (Central (Macau Ferry) - South Horizons), N182 (Central (Macau Ferry) - Kwong Yuen) and N619 (Central (Macau Ferry) - Shun Lee) from Central (Macau Ferry) will be diverted to operate via Central Pier No. 5 at Man Kwong Street, Man Yiu Street, Man Cheung Street, Jubilee Street underpass, Connaught Road Central, Rumsey Street before resuming their original routes on Des Voeux Road Central.

 

(C)  Temporary Suspension of Taxi Stands

 

                    Taxi stand and cross-harbour taxi stand outside Central Pier No. 5 and 6 will be temporarily suspended from 9.00 p.m. on 11 May 2008 to 23.59 p.m. on 12 May 2008.

 

                    Members of the public are advised to plan their journey, note the mass media message on the latest situations and be patient and follow the instructions given by the Police and the staff of public transport operators at Central and Cheung Chau Piers.
