TRAFFIC ADVICE
Special Traffic and Transport Arrangements in Shau Kei Wan
for Tam Kung Festival
Motorists are advised that the following traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented in Shau Kei Wan in connection with the Tam Kung Festival between 7.00 a.m. and 5.30 p.m. on 12 May 2008:
(I) Road closure
The following sections of roads will be closed to all vehicular traffic:
(a) The section of Shau Kei Wan Main Street East between Factory Street and Tung Hei Road (except tram service);
(b) Tam Kung Temple Road;
(c) The section of A Kung Ngam Village Road between Tung Hei Road and A Kung Ngam Road;
(d) The section of Tung Hei Road westbound between Island Eastern Corridor and Mong Lung Street (except franchised buses):
(e) The section of Tung Hei Road eastbound between Oi Lai Street and its eastern junction with A Kung Ngam Village Road;
(f) The section of Oi Lai Street eastbound between Oi Yin Street and Tung Hei Road;
(g) Wang Wa Street;
(h) The section of Factory Street between Shau Kei Wan Main Street East and Wang Wa Street; and
(i) The section of Kam Wa Street between Mong Lung Street and Wang Wa Street.
(II) Traffic diversion
(a) Vehicles on Tung Hei Road eastbound heading for A Kung Ngam and Chai Wan will be diverted via Mong Lung Street, Factory Street, Aldrich Street and Chai Wan Road; and
(b) Vehicles on Island Eastern Corridor westbound heading for A Kung Ngam will be diverted via Nam On Lane, Shau Kei Wan Road, Chai Wan Road and A Kung Ngam Road.
(III) Temporary suspension of green minibus terminus
The green minibus terminus for Route 68 in Aldrich Garden will be suspended. A temporary terminus will be provided in Oi Yin Street.
(IV) Temporary suspension of parking spaces
The parking spaces at the following locations will be suspended:
(a) The metered parking spaces in the section of Kam Wa Street between Shau Kei Wan Main Street East and Wang Wa Street;
(b) The metered parking spaces in Wang Wa Street;
(c) The motorcycle parking spaces in Kam Wah Street; and
(d) The Public Light Bus parking spaces in Kam Wa Street between Shau Kei Wan Main Street East and Mong Lung Street.
Appropriate traffic signs will be provided on site to guide motorists. Vehicles parked illegally will be towed away by the police without prior notice. Actual implementation of the road closure, traffic and public transport diversions will be made by the Police at the time depending on conditions in the areas. Motorists should exercise tolerance and patience in cases of traffic congestion and take heed of instructions of the Police.
