The learner's driving licence entitles the holder to learn to drive a motor vehicle of specified class(es). The provisional driving licence, which is the precedent of learner's driving licence, formed part of the book of the Hong Kong driving licence before the 1980s. The provisional driving licence was later detached from the book of Hong Kong driving licence as a separate book comprising 30 pages with a hard cover in the colour of light blue (Figure 6). The results of driving tests and its renewal records were recorded in the book. In 1980s, the book of provisional driving licence was replaced by the learner's driving licence which was printed as an item "Learner's Classes" with separate validity on the laminated card of the full driving licence mentioned above.
