Invitation to Applications for Group 1 (Private Cars and Light Goods Vehicles) Private Driving Instructors' Licences (Quota for Specified Persons)

  1. Notice is hereby given to invite applications for Group 1 (Private Cars and Light Goods Vehicles) Private Driving Instructors' Licences (Quota for Specified Persons). The number of licences to be issued is 57.

Applicant's Qualifications

  1. Any person who meets the following criteria will be eligible for application:

Obtaining and Submission of Application Form

  1. The application period is from 29 April to 17 May 2022. Application form (TD560A) and Guidance Notes for Applicants (TD564D) can be downloaded from the Transport Department website (http://www.td.gov.hk) or obtained at the following locations during the application period:

3/F, United Centre, 95 Queensway, Hong Kong;

2/F, Cheung Sha Wan Government Offices, 303 Cheung Sha Wan Road, Kowloon;

5/F, Kowloon East Government Offices, 12 Lei Yue Mun Road, Kwun Tong, Kowloon; and

2/F, Sha Tin Government Offices, 1 Sheung Wo Che Road, Sha Tin, New Territories

  1. Xeroxed copies of the application form can also be used by applicants for filling in all the required information and subsequently submitting their applications.

  1. Applicants can, within the application period, submit their completed application forms by post to the following address or by hand to the collection box at the following location during office hours (from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Mondays to Fridays¸ excluding public holidays):

Deadline for Application

  1. Applications must be submitted during the period from 29 April 2022 to 17 May 2022.

  1. Deadline for application is 17 May 2022. For applications submitted by post, the postmark date will be regarded as the date of application. For application submitted by hand to the collection box of Driving Services Section, the deadline for application is 5:00 pm on 17 May 2022. Applications submitted before or after the application period will not be accepted. Applications submitted by post with postmark date before or after the application period will also not be accepted. If tropical cyclone signal No. 8 or above is hoisted, or a black rainstorm warning signal or "extreme conditions" after super typhoons is/are in force at any time between noon and 5:00 pm on 17 May 2022, the closing date for application will be extended to the first working day after the tropical cyclone signal No. 8 is lowered, or the black rainstorm warning signal or the "extreme conditions" after super typhoons has/have ceased to be in force, and the closing time for application submitted by hand to the collection box will be postponed to 5:00 pm on that day.

  1. An acknowledgement letter will be issued to the applicant after receipt of the application.

Fees

  1. The application form and submission of the form are free.

Balloting

  1. If the number of applications exceeds the total number of 57 Group 1 Private Driving Instructors' Licences (Quota for Specified Persons) proposed to be issued, the Transport Department will hold a ballot to determine the order of applications to be dealt with and verify the eligibility of the applicants according to the balloted order numbers. The scheduled date and details of the ballot will be announced later.

  1. Balloted order numbers allotted to an applicant should not be deemed as meaning that an applicant has fulfilled all the qualification requirements of the application.

Tests

  1. Applicants who meet the qualifications stipulated in paragraph 2 above will be invited to take the Private Driving Instructor's test according to their balloted order numbers until the number of Group 1 Private Driving Instructors' Licences (Quota for Specified Persons) proposed to be issued in this exercise is completely filled, and the applications of those applicants who have not been invited for the tests will also be voided. For applicants who fail to meet the qualifications stipulated in paragraph 2 above will be notified in writing when their applications are being dealt with according to the ballot order, and their applications will not be further processed.

  1. There will be road test for Group 1 Private Driving Instructor's test (Quota for Specified Persons).

Mandatory Induction Course

  1. Applicants who pass or are exempted from the road test will be required to attend and complete a driving instructor's induction course before being issued the private driving instructor's licence. The Transport Department will inform the eligible applicants of the arrangement of the driving instructor's induction course.
