1. Relocation of Vehicle Examination Centres

To facilitate development of Kowloon Bay and To Kwa Wan, the New Kowloon Bay, Kowloon Bay and To Kwa Wan Vehicle Examination Centres have been relocated to the newly completed "Transport Department Vehicle Examination Complex" (TDVEC) in Tsing Yi. The TDVEC has superseded the above three Vehicle Examination Centres to provide vehicle inspection services to public.

2. Transport Department Vehicle Examination Complex

The TDVEC was designed for examination of various types of vehicles ranging from public transport passenger vehicles (e.g. taxi, light bus, bus) to all types of goods vehicles (including light, medium, heavy goods vehicles and trailers) and special purpose vehicles. Inspections for type approval of new vehicle models and pre-registration examination of vehicles are also conducted at the TDVEC.

The TDVEC is located at 18 Sai Tso Wan Road, Tsing Yi, occupying a land of about 3.4 hectares. It is a comprehensive state-of-the-art and multi-storey vehicle examination complex, and is the first of its kind in Hong Kong. Apart from 30 nos. of inspection lanes in three floors, the TDVEC also includes other auxiliary facilities such as dynamometers, tilt test platform, 4-post hoist, scissor lift, axle weighbridge, brake test lane, parking brake test ramp for conducting vehicle inspections.
