TRANSPORT DEPARTMENT NOTICE
Temporary Traffic and Transport Arrangements in Central District
Notice is hereby given that to facilitate the construction of Central - Wan Chai Bypass and Island Eastern Corridor Link - Central Interchange, the following temporary traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented during the period as specified below:
•(A) From 9.00 pm on 22 April 2011 to 8.00 am on 23 April 2011
•I. Road Closure
Man Po Street will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic.
•II. Temporary Traffic Arrangement
During the above road closure, the following temporary traffic diversion will be implemented :
(a) Affected vehicles from Western District heading for Central Piers, Man Yiu Street or Finance Street will be diverted via Connaught Road West eastbound, Connaught Road Central eastbound and Man Kwong Street eastbound; and
(b) Affected vehicles traveling on Rumsey Street flyover eastbound heading for Central Piers, Man Yiu Street or Finance Street will be diverted via Connaught Road Central eastbound, Tim Wa Avenue northbound, Lung Wo Road westbound and Man Yiu Street northbound.
•III. Temporary Public Transport Arrangement
During the above road closure, the following temporary bus route diversion will be implemented :
Citybus (CTB) Route No. 5X on its journeys to Causeway Bay and New World First Bus (NWFB) Route No. 30X on its journeys to Central will be diverted via Connaught Road West eastbound, Connaught Road Central eastbound and Man Kwong Street eastbound before resuming their original routeings.
•(B) From 8.00 am on 23 April 2011 onwards (for a period of about 18 months )
•I. Road Closure and Opening of Slip Road
(a) The section of Finance Street from a point about 100 metres west of its junction with Man Yiu Street to a point about 185 metres west of the same junction will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic; and
(b) Slip roads leading from Man Po Street to Finance Street will be opened for vehicular traffic.
•II. Temporary Traffic Arrangement
During the above road closure, the following temporary traffic arrangements will be implemented: -
(a) Alteration of Traffic Direction
The section of Finance Street from a point about 185 metres west of its junction with Man Yiu Street to a point about 285 metres west of the same junction will be re-routed to one-way eastbound traffic.
(b) Traffic Diversion
(1) All affected vehicles with length not exceeding 8 metres on Man Po Street heading for Two International Finance Centre will be diverted via the slip road leading from Man Po Street to Finance Street eastbound;
(2) All affected vehicles on Man Po Street heading for Four Seasons Hotel will be diverted via the slip road leading from Man Po Street to Finance Street westbound; and
(3) All affected vehicles on Man Yiu Street heading for Man Chiu Street and Man Cheung Street will be diverted via Finance Street service road.
•(C) From 8.00 am on 23 April 2011 onwards (for a period of about 3 years)
•I. Road Closure and Opening of Slip Road
(a) The section of Man Po Street from a point opposite to Central Pier 3 to Man Yiu Street will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic;
(b) The U-turn slip road (opposite to Central Pier 4) will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic; and
(c) A slip road (opposite to Central Pier 4) leading from Man Po Street to Man Kwong Street westbound and Man Kwong Street eastbound will be opened for vehicular traffic.
•II. Temporary Traffic Arrangement
During the above road closure, the following temporary traffic arrangements will be implemented :
(a) Banning of Vehicular Movement
(1) All vehicles on Man Kwong Street westbound will be prohibited from making U-turns at the slip road (opposite to Central Pier 4) to Man Kwong Street eastbound;
(2) All vehicles on Man Kwong Street westbound will be prohibited from making right-turns at the slip road (opposite to Central Pier 4) to Central Piers; and
(3) All vehicles with length exceeding 8 metres on Man Po Street will be prohibited from making left-turns to Man Kwong Street westbound.
(b) Traffic Diversion
(1) All affected vehicles on Man Po Street heading for Man Kwong Street eastbound will be diverted via the slip road leading from Man Po Street;
(2) All affected vehicles on Man Po Street heading for Finance Street will be diverted via the slip road leading from Man Po Street to Man Kwong Street eastbound, roundabout near Central Pier 7 and Man Yiu Street southbound;
(3) All affected vehicles on Man Po Street heading for Man Yiu Street southbound will be diverted via the slip road leading from Man Po Street to Man Kwong Street eastbound and roundabout near Central Pier No. 7;
(4) All affected vehicles on Man Po Street heading for Central Piers 7, 8 & 9 will be diverted via he slip road leading from Man Po Street, Man Kwong Street eastbound and roundabout near Central Pier 7;
(5) All affected vehicles with length exceeding 8 metres on Man Po Street heading for Man Kwong Street westbound will be diverted via the slip road from Man Po Street to Man Kwong Street eastbound, roundabout near Central Pier 7 and Man Yiu Street southbound;
(6) All affected vehicles with length not exceeding 8 metres on Man Po Street heading for Man Kwong Street westbound will be diverted via the slip road leading from Man Po Street; and
(7) All affected vehicles on Man Kwong Street westbound heading for Man Kwong Street eastbound will be diverted via the U-turn slip road near Man Fai Street;
•III. Temporary Public Transport Arrangement
During the above road closure, the following temporary bus and green mini-bus (GMB) diversion will be implemented :
(a) CTB Route No. 5X on its journeys to Causeway Bay and NWFB Route No. 30X on its journeys to Central will be diverted via the slip road leading from Man Po Street to Man Kwong Street eastbound and roundabout near Central Pier 7 before resuming their original routeings;
(b) Special departures of GMB Route No.8 (during 7.30 am to 9.30 am on Monday to Saturdays, except Public Holidays) on its journeys to Central will be diverted via Connaught Road West eastbound, Connaught Road Cental eastbound, Man Kut Street eastbound, Man Cheung Street eastbound and Man Yiu Street southbound before resuming its original routeing; and
(c) GMB route 22X on its journeys to Central will be diverted via the slip road leading from Man Po Street to Man Kwong Street eastbound, roundabout near Central Pier 7, Man Yiu Street southbound, Harbour View Street, Connaught Road Central, Connaught Place, Man Yiu Street northbound, Man Kwong Street westbound and U-turn slip road near Man Fai Street before resuming its original routeing;
Appropriate traffic signs will be erected on site to guide motorists. The public transport operators will display notices to advise passengers on the above public transport arrangements. Actual implementation of and adjustments to road closures, traffic control and public transport arrangements will be made by the Police at the time depending on conditions in the areas. Motorists should exercise tolerance and patience in cases of traffic congestion, follow the instruction given by the Police and watch out for the latest traffic news on radio and television.
