TRANSPORT DEPARTMENT NOTICE
Special Traffic and Transport Arrangements for the Public Parade
in Causeway Bay on 18 November 2012
Members of the public are advised that the following traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented in connection with a public parade in Causeway Bay on 18 November 2012 (Sunday):
I. Special Traffic Arrangements
A. Road Closure
The following roads will be closed to all vehicular traffic from about 2.30 pm onwards until the road closure is lifted:
(a) Great George Street;
(b) Kingston Street westbound between Paterson Street and Gloucester Road; and
(c) Paterson Street between Kingston Street and Great George Street.
The following roads may be closed to all vehicular traffic by the Police at anytime depending on the traffic and crowd conditions in the area:
(a) Sugar Street;
(b) Cleveland Street;
(c) Kingston Street eastbound between Paterson Street and Gloucester Road;
(d) Paterson Street between Gloucester Road and Kingston Street;
(e) Gloucester Road northbound between Causeway Road and Gloucester Road service road;
(f) The U-turn slip road between Gloucester Road southbound and northbound;
(g) Gloucester Road southbound between Causeway Road and Gloucester Road service road; and/or
(h) Tai Hang Road flyover southbound.
B. Traffic Diversion
The following traffic diversion will be implemented from 2.30 pm onwards until the road closure is lifted:
(a) Traffic along Cleveland Street southbound will be prohibited from turning right onto Kingston Street westbound;
(b) Traffic along Paterson Street southbound must turn left onto Kingston Street eastbound; and
(c) Traffic along Gloucester Road northbound will be prohibited from turning left onto Kingston Street westbound.
The following traffic diversions may be implemented by the Police at any time depending on the traffic and crowd conditions in the area:
(a) Traffic along Yee Wo Street eastbound will be prohibited from turning left onto Sugar Street;
(b) Traffic along Gloucester Road service road westbound will be prohibited from turning left onto Cleveland Street;
(c) Traffic along Gloucester Road service road westbound will be prohibited from turning left onto Paterson Street southbound;
(d) Traffic along Victoria Park Road flyover eastbound will be prohibited from turning right onto Gloucester Road southbound. Vehicles heading for Tai Hang will be diverted via Victoria Road eastbound, Wing Hing Street, King’s Road and Tung Lo Wan Road; and/or
(e) Traffic along Victoria Park Road flyover southbound will be diverted to turn right onto Gloucester Road service road westbound.
II. Special Public Transport Arrangements
A. Public Transport Service Arrangements
(a) Bus Service
The following temporary bus service arrangements will be implemented from about 3 pm until the road closure is lifted:-

To be diverted via Victoria Park Road and Wing Hing Street.
The following bus stops will be temporarily suspended:- (i) inner Gloucester Road outside the western gate of Victoria Park (ii) Causeway Road outside the main entrance of Victoria Park (iii) King’s Road near the road junction with Ngan Mok Street.
Temporary bus stops will be provided at Victoria Park Road near Causeway Bay Typhoon Shelter and Wing Hing Street No. 21.

Tai Po Bound |
To be diverted via Gloucester Road, Victoria Park Road Flyover, Gloucester Road westbound, Percival Street and Yee Wo Street.
The bus stop at inner Gloucester Road outside the western gate of Victoria Park will be temporarily suspended.
A temporary bus stop will be provided at Causeway Road eastbound outside the main entrance of Victoria Park.

(b) Green Minibus (GMB) Service
GMB Route No. 25 (Causeway Bay bound) will be diverted via Tai Hang Road northbound, Tung Lo Wan Road, Tung Lo Wan Drive and Tai Hang Road southbound from about 2.30 pm until the road closure is lifted. Its stopping point at Paterson street will be temporarily suspended. Passengers may use the temporary stopping point on Tung Lo Wan Road opposite St. Paul’s Convent School.
B. Suspension of Public Light Bus (PLB) Stand
The PLB stand at Sugar Street will be temporarily suspended from 2.30 pm until the crowd is dispersed and traffic resumes normal.
C. Suspension of Taxi Stands
The taxi stands at Paterson Street will be temporarily suspended from 2.30 pm until the crowd is dispersed and traffic resumes normal.
D. Restriction on Access to / Exit from Car parks
All car parks within the road closure area will be suspended from 2.30 pm until the crowd is dispersed and the road closure is lifted. Vehicles will not be permitted to leave or access the car parks within the affected areas until the roads are re-opened to traffic.
Removal of Illegal Parking Vehicles
Any vehicles found illegally parked within the precinct of the special traffic arrangements specified above might be towed away without prior notice.
Attention and Appeal
Appropriate traffic signs will be erected to guide motorists. The green minibus operator will display notices at the stops to advise passengers of the above temporary arrangement. Actual implementation of and adjustments to road closures, traffic control and public transport diversions will be made by the Police at the time depending on conditions in the areas.
Depending on the traffic and crowd conditions, other ad-hoc traffic and public transport measures, including further closures of roads, traffic diversions, alterations and suspension of public transport service may be introduced by the Police at anytime.
The Transport Department anticipates that the traffic in Causeway Bay will be congested. Members of the public who plan to go to the affected area are advised to use public transport service as far as possible. Motorists are advised to avoid driving to the affected areas and should exercise tolerance and patience in case of traffic congestion, follow the instruction given by the Police, and watch out for the latest traffic news through the media.
