TRANSPORT DEPARTMENT NOTICE 

Special Traffic and Transport Arrangements for

Community Chest New Territories Walk and Cycling Challenge 

        Notice is hereby given that special traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented on 9 March 2014 (Sunday) to facilitate the holding of the Community Chest New Territories Walk and Cycling Challenge:

I.      TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENTS

(A)       Road Closures

From 12.30 am to about 1.00 pm on 9 March 2014 (depending on the actual finishing time of the event, and complete clearance for safe re-opening of roads to vehicular traffic):

 

(B)       Banning of Turning Movement for all Vehicles

During the above road closure period, the following banning of vehicular movement will be implemented:

II.    PUBLIC TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENT

    (A)   Bus Route Diversion

During the above period of road closure, the following bus routes will be diverted as follows:

via Tai Po Road southbound, Castle Peak Road westbound, Yen Chow Street southbound, Yen Chow Street West southbound, Sham Mong Road westbound and Hing Wah Street West northbound.

 

KMB route no. 286X

To Sham Shui Po

via Tai Po Road southbound, Castle Peak Road westbound, Yen Chow Street southbound, Yen Chow Street West southbound, right turn to Fu Cheong Estate for U-turn and Yen Chow Street West northbound.

 

KMB route no. 286X

To Hin Keng

via Ching Cheung Road eastbound and Tai Po Road northbound.

 

CTB routes no. A10, A11, A12 and A22

To Hong Kong Island/ Kowloon

via Cheung Tsing Highway eastbound, Cheung Tsing Tunnel eastbound and Tsing Kwai Highway southbound.

 

CTB routes no. A10, A11, A12 and A22

To Airport

via Tsing Kwai Highway northbound, Cheung Tsing Tunnel westbound and Cheung Tsing Highway westbound.

 

 (B)   Bus and GMB stop arrangements

During the above period of road closure, the following bus and GMB stops will be suspended:

III.   ATTENTION AND APPEAL

Appropriate traffic signs will be erected to guide motorists. The public transport operators will display notices at the stops and inside vehicle compartments to advise passengers of the above temporary arrangements. Actual implementation of and adjustments to road closures, traffic control and public transport diversions will be made by the Police at the time depending on conditions in the areas. Members of the public are advised to use public transport services. Motorists are advised to avoid driving to the affected areas and should exercise tolerance and patience in case of traffic congestion, follow the instruction given by the Police; and watch out for the latest traffic news through the media.
