TRAFFIC ADVICE

Special Traffic Arrangements for a Public Procession
on Hong Kong Island on 20 August 2017

         Members of the public are advised that to facilitate a public procession to be held on Hong Kong Island, the following special traffic arrangements will be implemented by the Police on 20 August 2017 (Sunday):

A.     Road Closures

(i)     The following roads will be intermittently closed to all vehicular traffic from about 3.30 pm onwards until the crowd is dispersed and traffic resumes normal:

(a) Hennessy Road westbound;
(b) Queensway westbound;
(c) Queen's Road Central; and
(d) Des Voeux Road Central.

(ii)    The following roads will be closed to all vehicular traffic from about 3.00 pm onwards until the crowd is dispersed and traffic resumes normal:

(a) The section of Luard Road between Johnston Road and Hennessy Road;
(b) The section of Fenwick Street between Hennessy Road and Johnston Road (except franchised buses and green minibuses);
(c) The section of Johnston Road eastbound between Fenwick Street and Hennessy Road;
(d) The section of Johnston Road westbound between Ship Street and Landale Street;
(e) The section of Thomson Road between its western junction with Johnston Road and Luard Road;
(f) The slip road leading from Justice Drive to Queensway;
(g) The slip road leading from Garden Road to Queen's Road Central (except franchised buses and green minibuses); and
(h) Bank Street.

B.     Traffic Diversions

The following traffic diversions will be implemented from about 3.00 pm onwards until the crowd is dispersed and traffic resumes normal:

(a) Traffic along Johnston Road eastbound will be prohibited from turning left onto Luard Road;
(b) Traffic along Johnston Road westbound will be prohibited from turning right onto Luard Road;
(c) Traffic along Johnston Road eastbound will be prohibited from turning left onto Thomson Road;
(d) Traffic along Johnston Road westbound will be prohibited from turning right onto Thomson Road;
(e) Traffic along Tai Wong Street East must turn right onto Johnston Road;
(f) Traffic along Johnston Road westbound must turn left onto Ship Street;
(g) Traffic along Luen Fat Street must turn right onto Johnston Road;
(h) Traffic along Hennessy Road eastbound will be prohibited from turning right onto Fenwick Street (except franchised buses and green minibuses)
(i) Traffic along Johnston Road westbound west of Landale Street must turn left onto Anton Street;
(j) Traffic along Justice Drive northbound will be prohibited from turning left onto Queensway westbound; and
(k) Traffic along Garden Road northbound will be prohibited from turning left onto Queen's Road Central westbound (except franchised buses and green minibuses).

         Vehicles parked in carparks within the affected areas may not be permitted to enter or leave the car parks during the road closure period until the crowd is dispersed and the road closure is lifted. Further adjustment to the above traffic arrangements will be made by the Police at the time depending on the actual conditions.

         Motorists are advised to be patient when driving in the vicinity of the affected areas and follow Police's instruction. The public are advised to use public transport services as far as possible, avoid driving to the affected area and watch out for the latest traffic news via media.
