TRANSPORT DEPARTMENT NOTICE
Temporary Traffic and Transport Arrangements
on Island Eastern Corridor, North Point
Notice is hereby given that to facilitate the construction works for the Central – Wan Chai Bypass, the following temporary traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented on 4 March 2018 (Sunday) during the time periods specified below:
I. From 1.30 am to 6.00 am on 4 March 2018
The fast lane of Island Eastern Corridor eastbound from a point about 460 metres west of its junction with the slip road connecting Tong Shui Road and Island Eastern Corridor eastbound to a point about 270 metres east of the same junction (i.e. between City Garden and Provident Centre) will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic.
II. From 1.30 am to 5.30 am on 4 March 2018
A. Road Closure
The following road sections will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic:
(i) The section of Island Eastern Corridor westbound from a point about 420 metres east of its junction with the slip road connecting Island Eastern Corridor westbound and Man Hong Street to a point about 220 metres west of its junction with the slip road connecting Tong Shui Road and Island Eastern Corridor westbound (i.e. between Quarry Bay Park Phase 2 and Henrietta Secondary School); and
(ii) The slip road connecting King's Road westbound near Healthy Street Central and Island Eastern Corridor westbound.
B. Traffic Diversion
(i) Affected vehicles on Island Eastern Corridor westbound heading for Central and Wan Chai North will be diverted via the slip road connecting Island Eastern Corridor westbound and Man Hong Street, Man Hong Street southbound, King's Road westbound, Tong Shui Road northbound and the slip road connecting Tong Shui Road and Island Eastern Corridor westbound; and
(ii) Affected vehicles on King's Road westbound heading for Central and Wan Chai North via the slip road connecting King's Road westbound and Island Eastern Corridor westbound will be diverted via Tong Shui Road northbound and the slip road connecting Tong Shui Road and Island Eastern Corridor westbound.
C. Bus Diversion
New World First Bus route N8P (To Wan Chai) and Cross Harbour route N118 (To Kowloon) will be diverted via the slip road connecting Island Eastern Corridor westbound and Man Hong Street, Man Hong Street southbound, King's Road westbound, Tong Shui Road northbound and the slip road connecting Tong Shui Road and Island Eastern Corridor westbound before resuming their original routings.
III. From 5.30 am to 6.00 am on 4 March 2018
The fast lane and middle lane of Island Eastern Corridor westbound from its junction with the slip road connecting King's Road westbound near Healthy Street Central and Island Eastern Corridor westbound to a point about 240 metres west of its junction with the slip road connecting Tong Shui Road and Island Eastern Corridor westbound (i.e. between North Point Ferry Pier Public Transport Interchange and Henrietta Secondary School) will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic.
Appropriate traffic signs will be erected on site to guide motorists. The public transport operators will display notices to advise passengers of the above temporary arrangements. The Transport Department anticipates that the traffic in the vicinity of Island Eastern Corridor would be more congested than normal days. Motorists should exercise tolerance and patience in case of traffic congestion. Members of the public are advised to plan their journey early and allow more traveling time to cater for unexpected delay, and watch out for the latest traffic news through media.
