Temporary Traffic Arrangements
for Tram Track Renewal Works in Western District

        Notice is hereby given that to facilitate the tram track renewal works at Connaught Road West, the following temporary traffic arrangements will be implemented during the period from about 10.00 am on 24 June 2019 to 10.00 am on 15 July 2019:

(A)   Traffic Lane Closure

The following traffic lanes will be temporarily closed:

(i)  the fast lane of Connaught Road West eastbound from its junction with Des Voeux Road West to a point about 25 metres west of the same junction;

(ii)  the fast lane of Connaught Road West westbound from its junction with Wing Lok Street to a point about 60 metres east of the same junction (except trams);

(iii)  the fast lane of Des Voeux Road West eastbound from a point about 10 metres east of its junction with Wing Lok Street to a point about 35 metres south of the same junction (except trams).

(B)   Banning of Turning Movement

(i)  All vehicles exceeding 10 metres in length will be temporarily prohibited from turning left from Connaught Road West westbound onto Wing Lok Street; and

(ii)  All vehicles exceeding 8 metres in length will be temporarily prohibited from turning right from Connaught Road West eastbound onto Des Voeux Road West westbound.

(C)   Traffic Diversions

(i)  Vehicles exceeding 10 metres in length on Connaught Road West westbound heading for Wing Lok Street will be diverted via Des Voeux Road West westbound, Queen Street southbound, Queen’s Road West westbound, Centre Street northbound, Des Voeux Road West eastbound, Queen Street northbound and Connaught Road West eastbound; and

(ii)  Vehicles exceeding 8 metres in length on Connaught Road West eastbound heading for Des Voeux Road West westbound will be diverted via Wing Lok Street eastbound, Morrison Street northbound and Connaught Road West westbound.

        Appropriate traffic signs and road markings will be erected on site to guide motorists. The Transport Department anticipates that the traffic in the vicinity of the above road sections would be relatively busy.  Motorists should exercise tolerance and patience in case of traffic congestion. Members of the public are advised to watch out for the latest traffic news.
