ROAD TRAFFIC ORDINANCE (CHAPTER 374)
SPEED LIMIT ON TAI PO ROAD – SHA TIN HEIGHTS
AND TAI PO ROAD – PIPER'S HILL, SHA TIN


        In exercise of the powers vested in me under section 40(2)(a) of the Road Traffic Ordinance, Chapter 374, I hereby direct that with effect from 10.00 a.m. on 27 July 2026, the following road sections will be subject to a speed limit of 50 kilometres per hour:

  1. the section of Tai Po Road – Sha Tin Heights northbound from a point about 250 metres north of its junction with the unnamed access road leading to the Tai Po Road Look-out to its junction with Tai Po Road – Piper's Hill;
  2. the section of Tai Po Road – Sha Tin Heights southbound from a point about 250 metres north of its junction with the unnamed access road leading to the Tai Po Road Look-out to its junction with Tai Po Road – Piper's Hill;
  3. the section of Tai Po Road – Piper's Hill northbound from a point about 85 metres south of its junction with Cheung Yuen Road to its junction with Tai Po Road – Sha Tin Heights; and
  4. the section of Tai Po Road – Piper's Hill southbound from a point about 85 metres south of its junction with Cheung Yuen Road to its junction with Tai Po Road – Sha Tin Heights.
        Appropriate traffic signs will be erected on site to guide motorists.


        At the same time, the existing speed limit of 70 kilometres per hour on the above road sections will be rescinded.
