Identify Hire Car Permits with Three Tips
Travel Safely with no Risk

  1. Ensure a hire car permit is displayed on the left side of the windscreen before the journey.
  2. Input registration mark in the "Online Checking System for Hire Car Permit" to confirm the hire car has been issued with a valid hire car permit.
  3. Check the windscreen and the rear of a cross-boundary hire car to ensure it bears a label with the words "Cross Boundary Hire Car" and a serial number designated to the vehicle.


How to identify authorised cross-boundary hire car

Passengers can identify cross-boundary hire car authorised by the Hong Kong and Guangdong governments or Hong Kong and Macau goverments,  by label displayed on the front windscreen and the rear of the vehicle respectively. The labels shall bear the wording "Cross Boundary Hire Car" in both Chinese and English together with a serial number designated to the vehicle for identification.

How to use authorised cross-boundary hire car service

1. Passengers who intend to use cross-boundary hire car services for travelling between the Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong or Macau and Hong Kong. Please check the list of authorised hire car operators on Transport Department's website and make appointment with the opeartor concerned accordingly.

2. Please check if the cross-boundary hire car in use bears all the identification labels to ensure the service is authorised by the Hong Kong and Guangdong governments or Hong Kong and Macau governments.
