The Taxi and Ride-hailing Vehicle Combined Written Test will be opened for application starting from 3 August 2026. The first batch of candidates are expected to take the combined written test from mid-September 2026 onwards. The arrangements for individuals who obtained a pass result in the Taxi Written Test are as follows:
Individuals already holding a valid taxi full driving licence may apply for a ride-hailing vehicle driving permit direct and is not required to take the Taxi and Ride-hailing Vehicle Combined Written Test.
To score an overall 'PASS' result, a candidate must answer all questions within the time limit, and be able to meet the passing criteria in each of the two parts. Part A: Taxi and Ride-hailing Vehicle Operation This part is to test candidates' knowledge on (i) providing taxi and ride-hailing passenger transport service, and (ii) locations in Hong Kong, as well as the route planning capacity of candidates. Questions in this part are set based on the booklet "Taxi and Ride-hailing Vehicle Operation", and prepared by making reference to the "Hong Kong Guide" published by the Survey & Mapping Office of the Lands Department.
