On-street parking spaces are provided where they do not obstruct traffic. Where there are limited spaces and a high demand, on-street parking spaces are metered to deter prolonged parking. As at end-2024, there are around 20 000 metered parking spaces, most of them are available from 8 a.m. to midnight on weekdays, and from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on general holidays. New charges for metered parking spaces take effect from 28 September 2025, with the maximum fee of $4 per 15 minutes. Fees for metered parking spaces for goods vehicles, buses, and coaches remain unchanged at the existing level (i.e. maximum fee of $2 per 15 minutes).
