Transport Advisory Committee

The Transport Advisory Committee advises the Chief Executive in Council on broad issues of transport policy and major transport-related proposals to facilitate the continuous development of Hong Kong. The Committee comprises a chairman and 18 members including three government officials. The Committee also supervises the operation of the Transport Complaints Unit, which is responsible for receiving and handling complaints and suggestions from the public on transport and traffic matters.

The Committee holds regular meetings. Some of the major subjects considered by the Committee in 2019 included smart mobility initiatives, taxi and franchised bus fare increase applications, latest situation on increasing the provision of car parking spaces, and the waiving of tolls of Tuen Mun-Chek Lap Kok Tunnel, Lantau Link, Tseung Kwan O-Lam Tin Tunnel and Tseung Kwan O Tunnel, etc. The Committee recommended a host of short, medium and long-term measures in December 2014 to alleviate road traffic congestion. In 2019, the Government continued to take forward the recommended measures progressively.
