Existing Transport Infrastructure

The existing road infrastructure and railways as at the end of 2004 are shown in Figures 1 and 2, and 3 respectively.

Major Road and Rail Infrastructure Projects

The major road infrastructure proposals on Hong Kong Island and in Kowloon, and those in the New Territories are shown in Figures 4 and 5 respectively. Details of the major highway projects under construction and planning are given in Tables 1.1 and 1.2 respectively.

The two railway projects under construction are listed in Table 1.3. The Disneyland Resort Line (formerly known as Penny's Bay Rail Link) ties in with the development of the Hong Kong Disneyland Theme Park in Lantau. The Sheung Shui to Lok Ma Chau Spur Line will relieve the existing congestion at Lo Wu Station and provide additional capacity to meet the cross-boundary travel demand. Railway projects under planning are shown in Figure 6 and listed in Table 1.4.
